You also need to t.i.c. the stack height, the shorter the steerer clamping area, the higher you can mount the stem. Which makes a diff. with short stems (5 degrees rise gives you about 6 mm extra height at 50mm length).

I think the Rockshox and Fox guidenance states a max of 30mm of spacer between the headset and stem. So if you are maxed out on your spacers a short stack stem with some rise would yeild the same rise as a 40mm stack stem with no rise.

I've looked at loads of stems to try and get more rise, but eventually I chose the higer rise bar route. Surly Sunrise for the win 🙂
