again a question im sure i knew the answer to not so long ago, im fairly sure logically that a fork with greater offset would make the head angle (seem) steeper?
sort of.
more offset decreases trail.
less trail makes the bike less stable in "turning" situations.
more trail makes it more stable.
however, falling down a hillside and hitting things, I think personally more fork offset (the front wheel further away from you) might make the bike MORE stable (distance forward of COG).

bontrager used to make short rake fork crowns for rock shox for his racelite bikes.
slowed down steering and put more weight on the fork making them work better.
worked great in all situations except steep down's, or stuff where you were in danger of going otb... So good for sort of carving singletrack, but not slow steep tech.
ok that makes it clearer in my head now ta. i guess sortina decent head angle in the first instance would help
