Hello,

I have a cycle to work voucher for a grand...

I'm looking at the genesis high latitude 1x10 and wondered if there were any similar alternatives to this?

Cheers

Halfords will get you anything if you talk to them (or so I've heard)

The usual deal with Halfords is that you ring their C2W helpline and tell them what bike you fancy. They have a list of bikes that they sell, bikes that they can buy in, but most usefully, a list of bikes you can buy from participating dealers.

If your bike can be bought through a participating dealer you order the bike via Halfords Helpline, but the dealer supplies the bike direct to you, and takes the Letter Of Collection from you and redeems it via the scheme.

I wanted a Cube last year, and persuaded my LBS to join the scheme so that I could give them my custom, rather than Halfords. I don't think he can discount anything, given the tight margins, but I get the benefit of knowing who built it, and where I could have taken it had anything gone wrong.

An Orange Pure 7 can be had for that money. Having had mine for a year, I can't rate them highly enough. Its even eclipsed my old Chameleon as the best do it all hardtail I've owned. My Intense barely gets a run out nowadays, as the P7 is just that much fun to ride!

Depending on how helpful/knowledgable your local Halfords is, they will get most stuff in. I've sold a few frames to Halfords before for insurance claim replacements and C2W schemes.

The Halfords helpline is reasonably good at saying which LBS are signed up to the scheme. They hadn't heard of CTBM or a Salsa Fargo though. ๐Ÿ™
