Does such a thing exist?

2054 miles has done for the e*Thirteen steel chainring on my Rail and there's not stock anywhere so I'm thinking about fitting a spider instead but I can only find aluminium chainrings. I doubt they'll last anything like as long.

In case steel is an ask too far, just how bad are the cheap ally rings on eBay?

I've had my Raceface 30t for a while now and it is fine. I would pay the extra 20 pounds and get a name brand one.

What fitting is the direct mount?
Race Face make a steel NW ring for their cinch cranks.

My last aluminium chainring (Works Components) lasted 2750km before it got binned with the rest of the drivetrain. The more expensive Hope retainer ring before that lasted a bit longer. The current Snail chainring, a £10 Ebay special, is looking tired at c.1000km and will, I suspect, determine the longevity of the entire drivetrain. My next chainring is already in the spares box: Superstar, priced between the Hope and the Works Components.

EDIT: all 104bcd on an old set of Deore cranks.

I might have a Hope alloy one somewhere if you get stuck?

Not sure what there is in the spares bin but at 34t it won't have been used much and would be happy to sell it.

@ajantom

What fitting is the direct mount?

It's for a Gen 4 Bosch Performance CX motor. It's specific to the motor, not borrowed from SRAM or Shimano.

@doomanic Apologies, i have loads of chainrings but the 34t Hope one is actually fitted to N+1 bike... doh.

Closest I have is a 32T orange Superstar one. Hardly used but not what you're after.

Praxis do one specifically for e-bikes: https://www.upgradebikes.co.uk/Catalogue/Chainrings/4-Bolt/Praxis-eRing-Steel-Mountain-1X-104BCD

Edit: assume you need one now? BikeInn have the SRAM ones at £13 but you'd have to wait for them to come back into stock https://www.bikeinn.com/bike/sram-x-sync-eagle-direct-mount-bosch/137388190/

I'm guessing those modular stainless steel alloy spidered chainrings from superstarcomponents a couple of years back weren't exactly a best seller.

I have an FSA Steel direct mount on my Focus with Bosch CX, 3500+ miles and still good.

Available in about a month from Italy. I bought a Spider (boost), Tool and spare lockring / O rings from Ridewill, shipped and received in about a week. Spider was 104BCD to go down same lines you are thinking. Thanks for the above links to steel chainrings.

No 104bcd. I'd have had one or two otherwise!

Thanks all, I've ordered a SRAM 34T from Ridewill. To make up for the €16.90 postage charge I've chucked a Magic Mary in the box as well.

FYI I ordered one if the Uberbike steel rings, turned up in 48hrs, and seems very nicely made.
The addition of the proper SS chainring bolts is nice (always good to have spares!)

Did a 60km ride on it today, and it did what a decent ring should do, i.e. got on with business, and didn't cause any trouble.

Will be interesting to see how rust resistant it is, as it's not stainless steel, but has a nitride finish.
