Just splashed out one of the hope hoops with 355 rims, I was wondering how many people are running non-tubeless tyres with just the yellow tape? Tyres in question are maxxis advantages 2.25 in kevlar, and I'm pretty light (65kg).

It'd be nice to have the weight saving of just the tape, but will they just burp all the time?

got some 355s with IRC tyres running tubes with just a standard cloth tape, seem fine.

Ah, maybe I wasn't clear, I want to run non-ust tyres tubeless, rather than with tubes.

355's with non UST Nobby Nics using just yellow tape, no problem infating or keeping them that way.

And if you want to be weightist about it....I'm a hearty 95kg.

I've used Stans Flows with non-tubeless Bontrager tyres and just the yellow tape - works fine and I'm 16 stone.

Rimstrip shouldn't make a difference once the tyre is inflated.
Try and get them inflated without and if you struggle then think about using the rimstrips.

If you fit standard tape there is a good chance that you will struggle getting tyres on and off.
The yellow type rim strip takes up less room, allowing the bead to sit in the slightly depressed section.
Its this bit of freedom in the centre that lets you get your tyre levers under the bead easier.

It does...Its much harder to burp a tyre with a rim strip than just yellow tape. So if you are heavy and ride hard try just the yellow...if you burp too much then get a rim strip.

Was looking at the same but with Spesh Purgatory tyres. Think i'll give them a go with just the valve as recommended and if i struggle with that then i'll get the rimstrips too.
