Just finished clearing up and I am totally exhausted but elated at the same time 🙂
Must thank everyone that helped and all the companies that donated which included Stooge Cycles Wheelbase, York Cycle works, Charlie The bike Monger, Cranked Magazine, Outcast Eds Bikes and a few others that I cannot remember off the top of my head and obviously STW for letting me post about the event.
Clear Blue skies for the majority of the weekend helped dry out the camping field and the trails after a couple of weeks of pants weather. Pizzas on the Friday wetted everyones appetite for a visit to Hawkshead Brewery and to top it off the pizza van was still there when we got back so tunes pizza and beer into the early hours sat in front of some fire pits went down well.

Saturday a few sore heads emerged but all ready to go and 12pm off they went on a controlled ride and one and a half hours they arrived at the first beer stop 🙂

Next up was the hill climb challenge certainly challenged a few just to walk up it but we found a winner who managed to get the third hairpin on the Sadgill climb

Onwards to the start of the main event we made are way over to the start at the 2nd beer stop where the riders were served by some nice ladies and whipped into shape ready for the start .

Off they went and I actively encouraged a actual race down the climb and two loops of the course

Looks like it was a cracking event rich, apologies for not making it down but i was hooked up to an antibiotic IV drip for a few days last week due to a **** bladder/kidney infection which scuppered any feasible chance of being fit enough to enjoy a weekend of drinking n' falling over.
It was cracking.
Except that bloody hill. And the can of beer in my bag that ****ted the back of my helmet on every descent.
Legs now match the whiteness of my legs once again!
This looks brilliant. Love SSUK events. Must be such a reward for all the hard work organising.

I love the idea of a relaxed race with Beer in the lakes. I might have to make a ss bike just to come along next year.

My voice has completely gone so I'm struggling to tell everyone that I spent my weekend riding a bike without gears in the lake district whilst drinking beer and being whipped by a leather clad dominatrix. I doubt they'd understand anyway!

You'll be on your own, it's on the Isle of Wight next year. No need for an SS though, plenty of FS bikes with tensioners, or even just lots of duct tape.

Was hoping to get a chat with Soma and epicyclo - have to schedule it for next year (never been to IoW).
Absolutely battered by the steely goodness of the radiator bike on all the downhills. Also soundly beaten by my 15yr old (at the front of that run photo in his mum's 22 year old Parkpre skinsuit.....)
Anyone got any radbike action shots? The local bike shop boys want some for their Website.

Garburn is surprisingly do-able ss - most mortals have to get off a geared bike to climb the bouldery bits anyway.
Did anyone tackle Nan Bield on Sunday? I didn't fancy carrying the plank of steel over that......

I think i talked briefly with coastkid at one of the gates before beerstop1 i talked about keeping the tide on the left.
I definitly talked to adjustable wench on a bench on saturday night. Well sat there nodding with tiredness.
Whqt was the beard thing at the prize giving i would have gone up but couldn't hear and couldn't be hooped moving. 😀

Cheers boys. Epic levels of rattly downhill mincing 🙂 A 29er back wheel or chunkier tyre would have been a big improvement but I couldn't be arsed making a rear triangle from scratch.
