Just about to start planning towards a budget build for a newly acquired Gryphon frame. Interested to see what other people have done.
Is there a 'magic gear' or simply hit and miss?
Planned use is for a long distance (muddy) day tripper in Suffolk and Norfolk, Essex etc.
Any pix of completed bikes would be cool.
There's a Ti one on the classifieds if you want some pics. Looks lovely 🙂
You're right...it does.
Mine won't look quite so pretty I'm afraid.

Doesn't it have an EBB like the Swift and other Singulars? In which case you can choose your desired ratio.
Yes. What I meant was something along the lines of 'what ratio is a good/best fit for SS gearing'.
53/11.
And only ride downhill.
And to think you had a perfectly good Swift...... 🙄
FWIW I was happy pushing a 2:1(32:16) at the last Thetford Winter Enduro 4hr I did on a 29er
32/16 aint 2:1 on a 29er 😉
32/18 is much nearer....
Two revs of the back wheel for one at the cranks?
32:16 = 2:1
2:1 is 2:1
2:1 is harder on a 29er than on a 26er
Now where are all the Gryphons?
One of the first proto Grypho's that Sam sent me to try out.

Now with Woodchippers and Cane Creek levers.
Mainly used as an ornament on the living room wall these days. 😕
@johnnystorm I still have swifty. It is my main bike. Gryphon is going to be more of a winter bike when it gets properly dirty.
Going to out niche JD! 😉
I think you know what I meant....sorry forgot this was STW 😉
