Are SRAMS X9 shifters much better than their X7s

Is it worth me buying brand new x9? My x7 are 2008. Will the new x9 be much better?

Depends on whether you want ten speed or not. If you do, then if I'm completely honest you'd be better off with XT. I'm surprised as to how good newer XT stuff is these days.

The old X7 shifters can be flimsy (mine fell apart within a year) but the X9s are much better built. I've a set from 2007 which are going well. SRAM have just updated the nine speed X9 though so your mileage may vary.

Am staying at nine speed. I had XT on my previous bike and loved it. All the SRAM kit came with this bike, can't really afford to switch it all over to XT. SRAM X9 rear mech has been fine, it's just the x7 shifters that are playing up, they keep sticking. Cleaned cables and sprayed gt85 inside shifters. They don't fill me with confidence. The cheapest option is to buy a rear x9 shifter, but only want to do this if the new ones are reliable.
