[Closed] Sram / Shimano calipers and 220mm discs? What am I doing wrong

I'm just in the process of upgrading the front discs on two bikes with Sram 220mm rotors.

The first bike is running Codes RSC's with a Lyrik fork (180mm PM). I am using a Magura QM45 (40mm PM-PM) adapter and it goes together beautifully with no problems and no need for washers.

The second bike running Shimano 4-pots with a Fox 36 fork (180mm PM). I am trying to use the same Magura QM45 (40m PM-PM) adapter (which clears the caliper easily), but for some reason it doesn't seem to be working. It's almost as if the caliper is orientated differently and needs to angled differently.

I am scratching my head here and trying to find the obvious stupidity (there must be one) as the maths should be pretty logical. The forks are both 180mm PM. The discs are 220mm and round, so the difference is 40mm. A 40mm adapter (without shims) should then surely position the caliper 40mm outward with exactly the same orientation and without change of caliper orientation.

What am I missing?

OK, I'll say it.. do you have the adapter up the right way? I.e. with the arrow pointing up.

This thread has some fitted to 38s.

The caliper gets pushed outย and across with these sort of adapters.
