Anyone got experience of both of these hydraulic brakes? Apart from the titanium bits etc and the contact point adjustment and stealthamajig features increasing the cost, do the Reds perform any better?
Can't comment on Red but recently got a bike with Rival AXS 1x and cant fault it. Contact point adjustment might be nice but I probably would pay extra for it. Levers feel very comfortable.
Had them both and hard pressed to tell them apart. The tyres/grip is most often the limiting factor. The current Rival levels are also much smaller and a better shape in general. Red levels are huge great things in comparison.
Having done maintenance on old SRAM Rival Hydro R levers, I'd happily pay extra for stealthamajig hose fixtures.
Just fitted a set of Rival AXS levers. They came with stealthamajig parts. Bought 6 months ago from Wiggle, so not the latest, latest spec either.
Actually, just checked my existing Rival AXS levers and they are stealthamajig too. 👍
So, no performance improvement then anyone? I really want someone to say they are loads better!!! In particular on the noise front as my Rivals squeal rather a lot. I’ve tried new rotors and new pads, both SRAM and currently RaceMatrix and still they squeal in various conditions - when it’s damp/the pads get above a certain temp yada yada yada. By way of contrast my Shimano 4pots only ever squealed if it was pissing down and only really for the first pull every now and then. So I am about to throw money at the problem and fit Red callipers…..!
