Used the shonky search and couldn't see this discussed yet.

Spoiler, it's a bolt tightening exercise to remove excess threadless that might prevent the correct torque it seems. Not including brakes that came on a new bike.

Link goes direct to SRAM PDF.

Bit confused about this one.. ย How does this qualify as a product recall.? ย Is the tightening torque wrong or missing in the included installation instructions.? ย If not then surely it's not a SRAM issue for recall it's an incompetent installer issue.?

Or is this a response to some litigious american assuming the bar tape was for holding their levers in place and then suing SRAM when they rearranged their features on some tarmac.?

#EDIT: Ok so excess thread lock to blame, my fault for posting before reading all the way through. ย Having said that who installs brake levers and doesn't check they don't waggle about before riding.?

Yeh is a bit of a weird one, I suppose you could think your hoods are tight enough but go over a bump at speed and suddenly you are folded over your handlebars.

You'd think they'd be bit more explicit on the reasoning behind torqueing and undoing 3 times. They only mention once in the muddle of the instructionsย  that it is to 'remove excess blue thread patch' rather than putting the primary cause at the start of the document.
