Hi all,

So, my Guide RS lever has well, given up on me today - literally went to swap the front pads, put them in - they were grabbing on the disc so i decided to bleed (i bled the rear earlier in the day and the bikes been sat for a good while) - well

Thats when the fun began, when i went to bleed, i cannot push fluid through from the lever side with the bleeding edge port open as per instructions, bearing in mind the rears went fine

As a result, the lever is also just loose now - does nothing and appear to be totally spannered

Whilst searching for a fix, i decided to just order a new set of fronts - well you cant get RS anywhere and i need them ready for the weekend

So 2 Qs really - any experience/fixes for the above issue and the next Q is

I could only get hold of the SRAM Guide RE as a replacement quick enough, seems it has the Guide R lever and Code caliper and has good reviews but:

- Will it fit on the Mounting hardware from the Guide RS to fork, seems its a weird CPS mount but it only looks like its washers and stuff that are different, will they come with the caliper?

- Will it be ok having a mix front and rear even though they are both 4 pots?

If that makes sense - cheers in advance

Has it been in the sun. The newer Guides aren't meant to, but do you hav a sticky lever piston.

Both my Gen1 stuck after hot weather. Replaced piston and been fine since.

Only for an hour or so today yes

Not sure what could be sticking, the lever itself is just flapping around and the little spring i can see appears to be very loose.

Pretty sure it was fine before i put new pads in..

See what happens in the morning. The piston wont return once stuck.

Went and had a quick look what its doing - its off the bike totally now but it appears the piston has come back out a bit as as soon as i moved the lever i felt it bite, however its gone back in and is now the same..

Maybe the morning will bring better news

You may need to sand it down, but a new piston will cure it. If you need it ASAP, I'd sand the piston down and order a replacement

Next question - i can get a piston from amazon on friday by the looks, decent reviews - what do you use as a circlip tool to get the clip out? No room in there for normal circlip pliers by the looks..

I used 2 picks and a small screwdriver. I can't remember how, and it was a bit of a fiddle, but worked eventually.

Searching for "motorcycle circlip pliers" (or master cylinder pliers) on ebay should yield something like this:
