[Closed] SRAM Guide Contact Point Dial Stuck

I have SRAM Guide Ultimates with the Contact Point adjustment dial on each lever. Both were functioning, however having just carried out a fluid replacement and bleed on both brakes, the contact point dial on one of the levers (the rear) is now jammed and won't rotate. Of course I bled the brake with it dialled right out (in?) so the lever was almost at the bar and now can't bring it back in.

Any ideas or quick fixes? I don't have the lever assembly tool so can't easily dismantle the lever but I fear it might come to that.

Cheers

My ultimates have a habit of sticking like that, all mine need is a bit of persuasion with a pair of pliers to get them moving, then they work as normal again.ย  I just put a bit of rag over the lever to avoid damaging the alloy with the pliers.

That was the first thing I tried and I actually got several clicks out of it, maybe 4, then it stopped and now it won't go in either direction, even with pliers. If I can't think of something magic then I'll drain the system and see if that gets it going again, otherwise it's going after the tool to dismantle/reassemble the lever innards.

Its just crap in there, blast with compressed air/ gt85 and bigger pliers .

I'd try removing the spring/ball bearing that provides the clicks to on the adjisyer to see if it's full of gunk or broken.ย  I've had my levers to bits and there's nothing really inside that can get jammed.

Just updating incase anyone stumbles on this in the future - I think what had happened was that it might have been a bit "gunked up" (they're always stiff at the best of times) and in forcing it with pliers I had actually made it worse and pushed it beyond the end of it's stopper and jammed it. I drained the reservoir and took the lever off (didn't dismantle the internals) and then gave it another go with the pliers (I know!) in the correct direction and it released it. I doubt that draining the system affected it but I can't be sure. It was probably more that I took the lever off and had a better grip on it.

Anyway the moral is don't force them unless you're undoing what you already messed up.
