Hi

Was at Eurobike yesterday and tried the AXS on the Sram stand and have to say was very impressed, was only set up on a bar with the whole drive train on display in front of you.

Has anyone used it in real life out and about? How is it, does it keep the crisp feel months long and is the battery life an annoyance?

Any feedback would be appreciated.

Works very well and remains absolutely consistent - had it about 4 weeks and been in mud of varying consistencies, water and dust.
I remove the battery when not in use and wash bike with battery removed (the red plastic insert in place).
Single and multiple shifts work very well up and down.
It is stupidly expensive but the consistency is superb. I bought from Germany due to conversion rate being ok.

I've a couple of sets (XX1 but they are functionally the same). Feels the same now as first fitting it (fantastic). Battery life isn't an issue, when I put the bike away, I put the batteries on charge, no different to lights in winter.

I've had my X01 AXS setup for a few months now. As a general overview I would say its utterly flawless. It was a bit of an impulse purchase, but one I don't regret. I was lucky to buy it when it first came out for £1350, which is still a massive chunk of cash, but a good £600 less than the RRP. So standard man maths means I got a bargain.

I have done the Southern champs enduro race with it, a week in Madeira, Bikepark wales and various local rides in the Surrey hills and QECP.

The mech has a fair few scratches and marks on it, but is still working perfectly. The super light touch of the leaver is excellent. I cant praise it enough. Its something that will be with me for quite a while, as I will transfer it to whichever bike I buy in the future.

I would like the Reverb to match at some point. As the lack of cables from the handlebars is something to behold!

There is always the worry of damaging it beyond repair, but I guess that comes down to the type of rider you are.... touching wood, I have never broken or bent a rear mech, so I am not too worried about writing this one off. Having said that, if you are a regular destroyer of them, it might not be for you.

So basically, if its in your budget, I wouldn't hesitate, you wont regret it.

Works perfectly - I’ve now fitted to two bike and wouldn’t go back, esp as price has come down a bit. Yes it’s still expensive but not that much more really than normal xx1. If you can afford it you won’t regret it.

im waiting to hear real long term - im happy with my xtr 12 speed stuff at present, its gone a little bit sloppier than when new (As expected, but down to cassette wear id say), but im not willing to splash serious money on axs until its been abused through a winter here in the uk

axs upgrade kit is still dear, and If I do it I think ill get the reverb also assuming the same that its not going to fall apart after 1 winter, and im also hoping it comes in 200mm before too long

Agreed will be interesting to see how it goes over winter, but my sense is it will be fine. After all there's no cables etc to get gunked up. Should say I also have the reverb on one bike and love that too, but haven't quite made my mind up to splash out on another..

I've both and got a 'bargain' on both...it is expensive, but works brilliantly. I've mentioned expense on all my posts about AXS but it is so good I think it justifies it.
I'm not regretting having either but the price I paid is still making my eyes water - to the point I'm embarrassed about it when people ask me about it.
Very quickly disappears when riding though, it works very well.
Fortunately I've only 1 bike..if I had more then I'd be trying to find ways to find the cash and justify upgrading the others as well.

Well i guess that's my mind made up!! Like i say i when i tried it i was very impressed by how it felt. As long as it keeps that feel for a few months after as well. Tried the reverb and all honesty felt like any other dropper, albeit minus the cable. Not convinced about that yet but the shifting i was well impressed...

Thanks for all the feedback
