To anyone who owns one could I just check that it's normal on this setup that the cassette can be removed with your bare hands, with the ratchet / teeth also loose and removeable beneath?
Was slightly disconcerted when I removed the wheel and the cassette fell off...seems to be working fine though!
I've no experience with SRAM, but I had a rear Hope hub which was exactly like this. Once you know, it's not a problem...just make sure you don't put outward force on the cassette (unless you want it to come off!).
I assume you mean freehub and not cassette
On the dtswiss it is push fit, but shouldn't be loose ever, sounds like something's worn
It should only come off like that when the end cap is removed. The end cap should hold the freehub body on, outor it does with my SRAM Rail 50s which use DT Swiss hubs anyway.
As Dirtyrider said - it shouldn't fall off - the end cap should hold it on, but removeable by hand is normal.
Make sure the seal on the inside of the free hub is properly fitted. I had a problem where when i changed the bearings it would go on but wouldn't stay on. Put the seal in properly and bobs your uncle.
Yes - DT freehubs and ratchets (including the spring) are all removed by hand. As above though the seal should offer enough resistance to stop it falling off.
