Currently I have 12 speed eagle 10-52 cassette, and Sram eagle gx shifter and rear mech.

But I mashed my rear mech last night.ย

So at least I need a new rear mec.B

But I was wondering if I could run a shimano rear mech and shifter with the existing cassette? Or any other alternatives.ย

Yes, it works fine. You could actually keep your Sram shifter too - the pull ratio is so similar between Shimano and Sram 12 and 11 speed that everything seems interchangeable.

ย

I'm running an SLX shifter and GX mech on a Sram 12 speed cassette on one bike, an XTR 12 speed mech with XTR 11 speed shifter and cassette on another bike, Shimano XT 11 speed shifter with Sram 11 speed mech and cassette on another and even a GX Transmission mech and shifter with a Shimano 12 speed chain and cassette on another.ย

Running SLX mech w NX eagle shifter and NX cassette no probs. THere have been various threads over the years and I don't think there has ever been anyone who has said it doesn't work

Shimano 12sp feels lush when it's all set up properly. Way nicer than 11sp ever did.

When you mix and match shimano/sram, do you still get that crisp, precision under load?

I've got an (admittedly cheap) BX 12sp cassette on my HT at the mo with xt shifter and a deore mech and it works fine but it's nowhere near as crisp as the xt cassette on my ebike. That's using an SLX mech at the moment but there can't be much difference between deore and slx mechs so I've always figured it was the non shimano cassette that made it feel different?
