Back break deteriorated within a few hours riding Cwmcarn DH.

Pads are going to need changing as they are almost gone, but my main concern is the leavers. From about 2" travel at the start of the day, to the leavers touching the grips aint good.I've been told it's a known issue with these brakes?

Is this true?
Thinking maybe I need to upgrade / change?
Any suggestions? What brakes would you recommend?

remove your old pads, give the calipers a good clean out, check the pistons are both moving freely(strip/clean and lube is a good idea if they aren't), push the pistons back, fit the new pads and make sure the caliper is properly aligned(both pads dead square to the disc in all planes, and hitting it at exactly the same time),then take your bleed kit and give it a full bleed. If everything's done properly, you should be able to get a solid lever with less than 1/2 of travel.
