During this morning’s ride my brakes “squealed” an awful lot. They did settle down by the end of the ride.

This is the first ride since putting on new brake pads, new discs etc so why all the noise? I had just driven 350 miles with the bike on a tow bar rack and the bike was covered in a mucky & greasy film so could the discs and possibly the pads have got contaminated as well?

Contamination is a distinct possibility. I use sune Muc-off disc protectors when I have bikes on the back of the van.

You answered your own question I reckon, sounds like road contamination.   🙂

Tow bar bike racks definitely wreck your brakes especially when the roads are wet.

I need to look into something to cover mine while in transit but I've been in hibernation for a few months.
