I'm trying to work out what weight spring I need for the DHX 5.0 on the Heckler I'm picking up tomorrow. According to Mojo, for my weight (81kg plus riding kit) I need a 500lbs spring. Santa Cruz say I need a 350, and TF are somewhere inbetween being closest to a 450, but that's for a shimmed shock rather than ProPedal.

The frame has a 500lbs spring on it already so obviously I shall be trying that first and working from there, but I would be grateful for the input of the STW massive...

I have found the TFT & MoJo spring calculators a load of tosh.

On my bike one of them advises 360 lb, the other 372. The bike had a 350 to start with and I knew that was too light as I couldn't get the right sag without winding on too much preload. Following the spring calculators, which seem to agree, I got a 400 lb and regularly blew through the travel so now I'm riding a 450 and it's sweet. Not best pleased as the 400 was Fox spring at £50 or so. The 500 was a Nuke proof and much cheaper.

I guess I'll just give it a go with the 500lbs and see how it feels then. I should at least be able to see how much sag I get and work it from there.
