Hi all
Does anyone know the spoke tension for a Syncros TR1 2015 27.5 carbon rim.
I think the rim is 25.5mm ETRTO 584×20. 28 spoke.
I had it re-laced at my LBS and it fell apart after my third ride.
4 spokes worked their way loose.
Luckily the rim is still OK.
Rather than take it back for them to mess up again I've bought a truing stand and tension meter so will have a go myself.
Thanks in advance
My tension meter came with a spoke guage - based on that it gave a range for the acceptable spoke tension on the spokes.
If you find the equivalent rim size on the Light Bicycle website they quote acceptable spoke tensions (they're fairly high).
So use the rnage for the spokes plus the one for the rm and try that.
Or just measure some unaffected spokes and make the loose ones match...
You can work out the tension from resonant frequency IIRC
Regardless of rims I just tension all mine to Ting! Ping is imo a little low. Some wheels do have lower max tensions than others, but generally if it's particularly low they tell you
1200N should be a safe guess (drive side rear, disc side front), light bicycle spec 130kgf max last time I build one
Stans range 95-125kgf, ENVE are 125kgf
Some wheels may require spoke freeze or prolock nipples if the wheel geometry results in very low tension on the rear disc or front non disc side with the high side at max tension.
Even tension and de stressing should result in reliable build
Or just measure some unaffected spokes and make the loose ones match…
If you've got 4 loose spokes, all the rest are already affected as it's an elastic structure.
Thanks guys. Appreciate ure help!
