only asking because as i havent actually got the rims yet id like to order spokes/nipples so they all arrive at the same time. I basically just swapping the rims and keeping the hubs the same so can i safetly just measure the spokes that are on there at the minute?
will being a mm or two out really matter?

As long as the rims you are getting are similar it should be fine though some rims have the nipples sitting at different depths. What rims did you have and what ones are you getting? Or what hub and rim are you using?

You don't have much tolerance the step in size is 2mm for a reason!

Wait to ge the new rims and measure them. Tbh unless the hubs are mint you'd be better getting new wheels.

If you want to take a punt, I would find out the manufacturers ERD of the rim from them which will allow you to calculate the spokes. But You would be better measuring the actual rim when you have it. IMO

I've just been in the same boat. Manuf said 604. However, I measured it as 606. Glad I waited, it makes a difference.

2mm won't make any difference IMHO if it just 2mm and not more ๐Ÿ™‚

Line the rims up against the old ones, you should get a good idea of whether you will need new spokes.

Actually decent spoke come in 1mm increments - sapim do, though lots of shops only stock in 2mm jumps to minimise stock - new rims, work out what the correct length should be and what the current ones are
