MegaSack DRAW - 6pm Christmas Eve - LIVE on our YouTube Channel
Anyone done the Mavic EX721 on rear Pro 2 (32H) combination and if so what size spokes are required for a normal lacing/cross pattern? Have seen spoke calculators on the internet but I don't have any accurate means of measuring my hubs.. Hoping this is a common enough combo for someone else to have the answer!
Also who makes decent silver spokes, and what gauge fit the Pro 2 holes?
bump 🙂

if you click on the button for rims it details how to measure the ERD of the rim - presuming you have it already.
Otherwise the deails can be found through

username :- mavic-com
Password :- dealer
Note mavic list there rim diamiters in a slightly different format to ERD so will need converting but google is your friend for this.
You can also use the Dt Swiss spoke calculator to find the ERD of the rim

Also be aware of nipple length, e.g. calculator may be for 12mm and CRC sell 14.
ive emailed CRC before not expecting a response, but i got one! shoot them an email and see what they say.
Well now I'm just more confused by all these numbers 😆 I might just drop the rim and hub into my lbs and get them to sort out spokes then build it for me.
Are most mtb wheels 3 or 4 cross? I remember I built bmx wheels with 4x ages ago, but not sure what normal mtb style is. Also do you really need to buy 2 lengths or can you get away with using the same length both sides if its only 1mm difference?
3 cross is standard, I normally look at the numbers and go for the nearest whole number that a spoke would be easy to get in.
In your case i'd look to get 260mm Disk Side 258mm Casette Side
Dt Swiss competition spokes are decent spokes to go for - double butted.
Take a look at Rose bikes, you can get 20 silver spokes for £5.90 or black ones for £8.90. Nipples are £1.49 for 40. Postage is extra (£5 ish from memory), but this way you can get the correct spoke lengths and have a few spares to keep handy for brakages etc.
You would be roughly £24.30 for 40 black spokes and nipples or £18.30 for 40 silver.
