brutal.

First one tonight. Thought I was going to die. Sweated more than I've ever sweated before, and still got out-cycled by some fat Geordie lasses.

Still not sure if I enjoyed the pain or not...

I really like the spin classes, but it depends who's running the class as I get really annoyed by the twit who insists on shouting despite having a microphone to amplify his voice!

I should start going again really. Agreed on needing a good instructor, one of the one's I've had was brilliant, was was less good. Struggle to walk to the car after a good one.

Hahaha legolamb - the thought of you getting out spun by some fat geordie lass...doubt that was the case at all! I had wondered about going to one - they have the X-bikes at one of my local gyms!

I see this training is getting serious!

Not that unsurprising, the amount of people I've seen at spin classes that don't really bother to raise the resistance... Lots of spinning, but not a huge amount of exercise!

Seriously, those girls could just keep going and going. Either that, or they were cheating with the resistance settings!

I've never had sweat pour off me (literally) like that before. I spent the first half of the class wondering what had possessed me to sign up, and the second half secretly competing with the only vaguely athletic person there (who was making it look like a little pootle to the shops).

The only reason I did it was because I was sick of not getting out on the bike with all this crappy weather, and it's less than £4 a session at the council gym in Byker. The flipside of that is that I have to go to the council gym in Byker (I cycled there and the receptionist wouldn't let me chain my bike up outside, and put it in her office for safekeeping!).

Love spin classes especially when my fave instructor gets off his bike half way through and rams up the resistance of the fat Scottish lassies .... Who then start looking like they're about to die 😀

Very dependent on the who is taking it - i've had one in the past that got the group to pedal backwards and do pressups on the bike and other shite like that.

Based on a couple of years of attending spin classes I reckon two thirds of people don't really use the resistance settings properly. The fat geordie lasses are fat for a reason, it's 'cos they're lazy and just go to the gym so they can stop off at greggs for a guilt free steak slice on the way home.

Did have an instructor once that had a stand up row with a punter. The gist of it was "What is the point of coming if you never adjust the resistance, You're just taking a place from someone that might actually benefit from the class".

I love them, great short work out. Went to one with my mate who has stopped going as he thought he'd see more benefits running - no wonder as he constantly went with light resistance!

Anyone who can still pedal when sitting down after a big standing climb is cheating, suppose its good that people go but why bother unless max effort. The ones using no resistance are usually the ones boasting they're going to another class next to take it easy through that too!!

For me the whole point of a spin class is you can go at full tilt comfortable in the knowledge that you're in a safe environment.

Extra points awarded for just suddenly standing up in the pedals with your arms outstretched pretending to do a wicked Manual.......... 😉

If they are good then they are good, if not it's a waste of time.

I get a much better and structured work out on the turbo with sensor feedback to trainer road than I ever did in a spin class (even the better ones)

Sometimes the view does make up for a bit though...
