Any experiences? I mainly ride here in the SE and do the occasional bit of DH (not racing just sessioning tracks), with the odd trip to Wales thrown in.
The main usage will be around the Surry Hills.

I can't comment on the dh aspect but I have a standard 2010 Stumpjumper FSR and for most of my riding it is great; local mincing trails, Peak district, Wales, Scotland, holidays to Spain.
Gives me loads more confidence than my old bike on technical descents, and climbs really well with the Brain shock.
I think the evo is just 'more' Stumpjumper...doubt it would climb as well, but imagine it would be great coming back down.
Depending on the sort of dh stuff you do, I'd consider the normal version. Should be easy enough to get a test ride...
