Hi Folks,
I've got some Spengle wheels which I'd like to run 9mmQR.
Any idea where I can get some?
Spengle's website site says adaptors are available from third party providers, but doesn't say who.
The email on their website is not working and the phone number says unavailable, so I'm wondering if Spengle have ceased trading.
Any help appreciated
Thanks
Andy
halo do 15mm to qr adaptors in both 100mm and 110mm spacing
Thanks - but I also need to do the rear hub.
Any ideas what might fit?
Thanks
Andy
You can get generic ones which are just a 15mm axle with QR ends (or 12mm for rear)
Like this one

Amazon boost one for the rear
https://www.amazon.co.uk/Lixada-Bicycle-Adapter-Quick-Release/dp/B07KYFW95F
THese might also work, they just push into a 12mm rear and make it QR, I have a set, think they'd work on most hubs
What size is the rear currently 142x12? do you need to get down to 135x9?
Thanks all,
yep the rear is 142x12
On a previous set of wheels the rear 9mm QR adaptors screwed on in place of the 142/12.
I assume when these are sold new they come with these too.
seems to be the norm that the 9mmQR push in ends caps change the axle length to 135/9
If only Spengle would respind and tell me which aftermarket adaptors they refer to in the website

Andy
Rears are also sold or you can use other end caps for QR. I’ve used the ones that slip into the axle before. Plenty to choose from.
actualy, realising now that the rear above really depends on hub, you'd need to remove the 142 end caps, but some end caps cover and apply load to the bearing, so the axle above might not suit
You can get 135x9 axles like these below but I think China is the only place now
You can insert these in the wheels with the current end caps.
The next bit is a one way street though, you can place the wheel under the drop outs at the wheel, make sure the disc is lined up and mark the 12mm end cap where it overlaps the drop out and then carefully hacksaw the 3.5mm off each side.
It is a bodge, it works well but there is no going back to 142x12 unless you can miraculously source the proper end caps again
No idea what I'm doign wrong here
So the 1000 words:
One end of the axle is a cone type in the freehub, the other end is a screw on cap which locates in the bearing, with an end cap.
Nothing standard there 🙁
yout pictures show up as adult content on flickr lol
oh!
nothing quite as sexy as a hub axle
errrm no idea why
