Evening all,
Was reading the thread about the Pace frames that are cracking around the seat tube brace.
Got me to thinking about my Pitch.
I run the stock seat post on the minimum insertion line. At that height the seat post is only at the lower weld of the seat post brace. I've always been told that the seat post should insert into the frame far enough for it to pass the top tube.
(Not my hand by the way!)
Is the brace on the Pitch the same as the 'top tube' on normal bikes, or should the seat post go past the actual top tube?
On the Pace, the seat post needs to go right past the seat tube brace and past the top tube junction.
I'm totally paranoid that my seat post isn't far enough into the frame and it's going to crack, despite it being the stock post at minimum insertion.
Surely asking Specialized (who would deal with the warranty should the worst happen) would be better than asking here?
I have asked Specialized, but haven't yet got an answer. Just wondering if anyone on here knew?
IIRC there is a little hole in the down tube. You need to make sure that the post is inserted past the hole.
If you run it past the top tube for normal riding, you would'nt be able to drop your saddle for decending as there is a kink in the seat tube just past top tube, my guess is thats why the brace is there. Just a guess tho ๐
There is no hole on the pitch down tube, well not on mine anyway!
Sorry, must have been my stumpy then. TBH I don't recall ever hearing about anyone cracking a pitch. They're as tough as old boots.
What was specialized's advice? out of curiosity.
As with everyone that 'will endeavor to reply in one working day' , i've heard nothing yet! I'll post when I hear from them.
