its a bolt on one - it fastens to two bolts above the bb so the diameter of the seatpost is irrelevant - if i remember correctly you have to detach the bracket section from the standard derailleur then just screw it on - heres one http://www.chainreactioncycles.com/Models.aspx?ModelID=20686
think if you tried to put a normal one on then it'd foul on the chainstays.

Etype is the size, an etype front mech fits round the bottom bracket, for a pitch you unbolt the bottom bracket fitting plate Off the mech and bolt the mech direct to the swingarm that has two small holes that the mech bolts to.

Think you will have trouble tbh, the pitch has a very bent seat tube near where you would mount mech

As does the FSR and stumpy from the same year but they have non e-type front mechs but you will need to keep the seat tube kink in mind when selecting the mech

Madmatt is right it doesn't clamp around the seat tube it bolts onto 2 bolts. I've not had to replace mine yet so wasn't aware you can just take apart a normal front mech. If this is the case then the size is completely irrelevant.
It's quite a busy area around there on a Pitch and I would be very doubtful if a regular mech clamped around the seat tube would work at all - there must be a reason why they went the 2 bolt attachment method. It is very solid and easier to install though. ๐Ÿ™‚

A normal one won't work, I've got a pitch and I've tried, the spacing is wrong and the swingarm fouls the mech on compression, so good luck Hahaha ๐Ÿ™„

Exactly !

The 2008 Pitch the OP refers to takes an E type mech:-

Removed from the E mount and bolted to the frame mount.

Khani your clearly talking from experience so is it impossible to fit a multi pull to it so you deffinatly need a bb mounted e type ?

Don't even attempt to fit a normal band-on front mech to a Pitch, it's bolt-on (e-Type with the bracket removed, as above) only. Just forget it, it won't work.

Yep, get an etype and save your sanity, you can get top or bottom pull etype ones if you want to try a top pull cable, you'll need a bolt on cable stop thingy as well though, not worth the bother really as etypes are the same price as normal ones, in fact last time I looked on crc they were cheaper
