A couple of years ago I took the bottom bracket out and then for one reason or another didn't put it back together for quite a while. When I came to put it back together I found that I could not get the drive side cup to seat against the bottom bracket shell. On looking inside the shell I saw there was some sort of sleeve inside the BB shell stopping it threading in, see the picture.
I have never seen anything like this before. Has anyone seen it on another bike. I am trying to work out if I should be trying to remove it or if I am somehow missing some part in installing it that would change things.
Any advice or suggestions appreciated.

Sorry I'm of no help, just wanna say love the bike, I had a 2005 P1 that I loved and adored and still regret selling after I started driving to buy a stainless exhaust system, miss that bike everyday loads of great memories of it riding with mates.
Does the sleeve have a seam/join in it? if so remove it clean it and try replacing it, if it doesn't it might be from the era where they were bonded to the frame and if so it's likely you might just need to reflatten the bottom bracket face
