I have been mountain biking for a few years on a 2007 Cannondale F5 hardtail. I'm looking to upgrade to a FS for next year. I was looking at the 2016 Specialized Camber 27.5 base model that is $1900. I saw pricepoint had a deal on a Transition Bandit 27.5 with XT/SLX parts for $1599. What would be the better buy in the long run and why? I ride almost all singletrack that has ups and downs with a few technical sections. I do spend a lot of the time climbing, so whichever has the better geometry for that would be best for me. My knowledge of bike geometry is lacking.

No. I have been looking at FS bikes for a while now and price range is $1500-$2000. Pricepoint says the bike is %67 off so it makes me wonder if that is legit or if it would be a bad deal. I don't know if the parts and frame are old and outdated compared to the Camber.

The Transition Bandit has been a discontinued for a while now I'd be surprised if anyone still had any stock.

But for what it's worth, when I was demoing bikes a few years ago I found the Transition bikes and more fun and poppy feel to ride. You'll want to pump and jump every little bump on the trail. The Specialized bikes had a very composed feeling with lots of back end grip which gave lots of confidence through rock gardens.

My personal preference was the more fun feeling of the Transition Bandit so thats what I went for. I haven't demoed any more recent versions but from talking to other riders who have ridden them both companies still have the same philosophies to bike design.

Sorry if your geniune. First post and link to what looked like a dodgy US site.

Bandits are great, got a 26" and just bought the 29 version too. If that site is genuine then it's a great bike for a great price.

Ok great. I wasn't sure if getting the 2016 Camber would be better because its newer. They don't have a year listed for that Transition.

The Bandit 27.5 was only made for 2014 iirc.
I really like mine but I'm coming from a 12yr old guy hardtail so can't offer much comparison.

I am still loving my 2012 Transition Covert and have made a few bids on similar vintage Bandit Frames. Back in the day frame alone would have been $1600. Transition make great bikes and the Bandit is one of them, it didn't go from great cr@p overnight. Modern gerometry .... hum that'll be a dose of marketing

I've got a Camber 27.5 and love it my mates got a newer Transition Scout and he loves that. The scout is def more fun and poppy but that's not me the Camber suits me better but we both still ride the same trails and have the same amount of fun on them.
