Is there such a thing? I'm looking for some cleated shoes that are OK to walk/run in, so looking for soft and flexible soles. I'm aware SPD's are mostly designed to be rigid, and happy to lose some efficiency through bendy soles.

These did me for the 3 Peaks for the last couple of years.
Northwave Missions sound like what you need, Vibram sole makes them very easy for walking in off the bike, and to minimise the loss of efficency through sole bending then pair them up with a clipless pedal with a platform like Crank Brothers Mallets.

Mavic Razors.
They might have changed a bit, but the soles are grippy and very hard wearing.

Mavic Switchbacks, and super light
My Mavic Alpine XLs have really impressed me. I did manage to snap a sole, but I think this is not very common- I know I've never heard of it before. I was gutted when I had to go back to my Shimano AM45s, while I was waiting for the warranty replacements.

I was just about to say Alpine XL's, I love mine. Nice soft, comfy upper with an aggro sole. Perfect for walking around in especially in the boggy forests I find myself in.
