I have always used the floating (yellow) ones, has anyone used the fixed (red) ones, any advantages, do they give you sore knees etc?
I've always used yellow ones to as I've never had a proper bike fitting or had my pedalling analysed so figure some float makes sense. I can't see fixed cleats would give you much of an advantage it terms of efficiency (although I also read somewhere floating cleats can sometimes cause knee issues by allowing lateral movement but not sure I buy that, especially as a lot of pros use floating cleats). I'd say stick with yellow ones if you're happy with them, it might take a lot of miles to realise zero float ones are causing you a problem and the damage might have been done by then.
I'd echo the above, but I do use fixed cleats myself and it feels distinctly less efficient when finding myself on a bike with floating cleats. It might be worth you trying.
