[#12514270]

Looking to replace a pair of Specialized shoes that must be 15 years old now.

The sole has just about had it, when I walk I'm hearing the metal of the cleat on the ground.... and the heels are worn down.

At the moment I'm leaning towards QUOC Grand Tourer Lace.

Anybody using these got any real life comments, comfort, fit, how are they wearing etc, etc?

Endura MT500 Burner clipless here!

Very nice to wear, good sole stiffness but not too stiff for walking/mooching about in.

No experience with the ones you are looking at but don't look to too bad!

Cheaper than the ones you've listed and British brand too!!

@boredmarriedwithkids how do the Enduras size up?

@dirkpitt74 I normally use Shimano size 47 which for me is which about 11.5 but Endura show 47 as a UK size 12 so you would think it would be slightly bigger but not so, for me it's spot on with plenty of space in the toe box, even more so than Shimano which comes up a bit narrow.

Get a nice pair of merino socks and it's sorted. No complaints.

Although don't go for the red ones...ugh!

Eeesh, those shoes look lovely, but the pricing is... ambitious! Personally I'd be thinking twice about laces; I guess they can be replaced, but it feels like a boa or velcro option might be better. If Specialized work for you I'd keep an eye out for more Specialized shoes - a Recon 2.0 or similar should be within budget; when I had to replace my shoes I tried on Shimano and Endura but thought they felt a bit less robust than the Specialized, ended up with another pair of Spesh and didn't regret it.
And looking around there seem to be some deals about on them: https://www.cyclestore.co.uk/productDetails.asp?productID=82917

Just my 2p of course!

Northwave seem to last forever and also fit my feet nicely, as did Specialized so they may be worth a shout. I also get on with the new shaped Shimano, but you defo need to size up, I'm a UK 10 and wear 46 in Shimano and 45 in Northwave

What do you want them for? Like anything mountain biking there are lots of sub-divisions but obvious one for SPD is whether you want to be able to hike-a-bike / push for extended periods.

If you want something similar to what you’ve linked, I’d strongly recommend the Specialized Recon 2.0 - stiff sole, BOA and not too bad to walk in when the hill gets too steep. If you want something more ‘trainer’, I’d look at the Specialized 2FO Cliplite - been using these for a couple of months so far, supreme comfort, easy to walk in but sole feels decently stiff for putting power down.
