Right. Last chance. Please help me avoid £££ of excess baggage charges...
Flying today EMA to Geneva for a week with Bike Verbier (Yay!)

We have paid for 3 bikes on bmibaby. We only need to take 2 bikes. Each bike+bikebag weigh over the 18kg limit.
Simple question - can we pool all 3 bike allowances for the 2 bikes? Or should I put wheels in the 3rd bag (not ideal).
I cannot work out the answer from the ts&cs.

I think you'll be OK, on this basis:

Flew with BMIBaby in January (EMA to GVA - what a coincidence) going skiing - so had lots of kit. Similar to you, we'd paid extra for 'sporting goods' carriage. We'd paid for two bags and only wanted to take one.

Tried finding a definitive answer, and were getting really, really stumped. T&C don't help because they can be read either way, depending on your viewpoint. So the question is, are BMIBaby going to be a pedantic bunch of pound-grabbers (a la Ryanair/Easyjet)?

I got my brother to make some enquiries (he works for 'proper' BMI - BMIGrownup?) and he said that, if you've paid, then the check-in staff will say it's fine. You've paid for a weight allowance, and whether it's in 1 or 3 bags, they don't really care. As long as the total is within your overall weight allowance.

So I think you'll be absolutely fine. Check-in staff with BMIBaby are far more smiley and sensible than most other cheapies (I'd recommend them).

You can pool allowances for bikes and luggage. So were allowed 18kg x3 prepaid bike allowances (54kg total) spread over two bike bags.

If you're on your own and cant pool allowances with others, you can only have a 18kg suitcase and 18kg bike bag allowance (36kg total) before excess baggage kicks in.

Have you booked all your bags in online?

The ****s at BMI stuffed us with a fine last NY's on a flight to Barcelona.

If travelling alone can you pool the 18kg (bike) with the 18kg (bag) or is the bike limited to a maximum of 18kg before you start paying for the excess?

22kg (bike) + 14kg (bag) = 36kg total

Is this ok or will I get charged 4kg excess baggage for the 4kg over on the bike.

If so I'll try putting my forks or something in my suitcase...
