On my grip shift...cable getting progressively shorter as I continue to shred the end

It goes in about an inch then just gets stuck. Going to have to resort to taking the entire thing apart. A quick google reveals I'm not alone with this.

Seriously Sram, this is meant to be a near top of the range piece of kit, yet its taking me the best part of an hour to change a cable...total rubbish

Do they need to be in a certain gear to allow the cable to pass through?

it was in the right gear but just a rubish design. Had to disasemble the shifter in the end. Don't even get me started on refiting the internal spring...grrrr

Is it one of those jobs where 9/10 times it's easy but the other it's really hard for no good reason?

Last week it took me ages to thread a new cable through a normal trigger shifter, even though it's normally dead easy. It went in the end, no reason for it as far as I could see. I'd obviously just upset the bike somehow... ๐Ÿ™‚
