Is anyone riding a fat tyre bike around in this snow, and if so, how's it going?

Try searching USA and Canadian sites and forums, as these bikes are used there a lot more due to the weather conditions.

Must admit, there is something appealing about a Pugsley.

eh... here i am,ive been riding solid last 3 weeks,i bought my pugsley for the beach but this winter has turned out a peach,is it worth it?..id say for sand a deft yes..for instance you can ride down murder hill at gullane!..(featured on BBCs coast..)for snow it depends..you can ride deeper snow easier than a normal bike and on ice its better as the tyres roll and flex over frozen ruts..in alaska/canada they ride snow mobile tracks usually in races which are already packed down..today the roads were all ploughed but not gritted...edinburgh council (and so also here in east lothian) has run out of grit..my mates a gritter...and it was excellent on hardpack, blazing the trail can be hard going and walking a 35 lbs bike in knee deep snow is alot harder than your average 25 lbs hardtail,i did a 2 hour ride around the black route at glentress last summer but it wasnt much fun on the rocky descents...i dont think were going to get this type of winter every year for most folk to need one but if like me you want to ride on the beach then id recommend one...it is also very good on places like the cheviots which can be very wet or my local lammermuir hills..anywhere its peaty and soft when wet,it dosnt cut up the ground like a normal mtb which is a good thing long term for the enviroment..,i cycled mine round harris in june and whilst not the best choice for tarmac was cool once on the beaches of scarista and luskyntyre..,one drawback is if like me your a bit low_key-avoid folk... it is an absolute people magnet and gets a bit tiring..ive got describing it down to about 10 secs now...read some more stuff on it here on my blog
im waiting on 50mm wide 29er rims to arrive from alaska for my karate monkey..with 2.5 wtb wierwolfs i should get a bit of float..something half way between a pugsley and a regular MTB..be interesting to see what there like..
