Hi,

Last night I managed to snap my chain. First time it has happened. Probably due to my poor gear changing plus the mucky conditions.

The chain was a SRAM 950. Any advice on the replacement would be very helpful. Basically looking for something a bit stronger.

Ta mutchley.

Andrew.

Why not fix it with a speed link?

Theres a topic thread on here somewhere from the last week or so discussing the frailty of SRAM chains.. I think the word out there was using Connex Chains or something like that name...

The first time it snapped 1 link away from the powerlink so I removed the broken link and ran with a shorter chain. I was very careful but as soon as I increased the power on a slight incline it snapped again. This time in half.

I'll look into those recommended.

Ta.

The only chain I've snapped in the last 5 years was on my singlespeed, and it was the Powerlink that sheared clean down the middle. I use Shimano cheapies, 3 for £22 at Merlin I seem to recall.
