Are there any smart turbo trainers that cope well with short bursts in power?
I've currently got a smart version of the elite turbo muin.ย While the basic mechanics of the trainer are good it suffers from quite a bit of lag when gradients change in Zwift (the escalator slope in the underground station being a prime example).ย It also takes quite a bit of time to adapt when doing short intervals in Sufferfest, when the expected power output jumps sharply.ย I've tried doing the Sufferfest intervals in non-erg mode but it can be a bit of pain shifting gears (and not what I bought a smart trainer for).ย There is also a delay somewhere in the communication chain of the increased power output to the app which makes it difficult to gauge my effort.ย Consequently I'm thinking of selling this trainer to get another one.
Which trainers respond best to these sudden changes in resistance?ย Cheers.
Tacx flow is good for me on adjusting the resistance quickly (eg the tube climb) but the power reading lags more
Thanks Nemesis.ย That's useful as the flow is one that I'm considering.
I wouldnt worry about it.ย There might be a delay in the resistance ramping up but there is also a delay in it coming back down again.ย You might miss some "stars" in the zwift workouts for not hitting the targets but thats about it.ย You are hitting the targets, just slightly delayed
