Thanks jam bo for the heads up.

Did not want to spend a fortune. Around £500. Maybe a hard tail?

I just got my 9 year old a trek 4300 26" in a 13.5. If you got that budget then maybe look at Islabikes.

Depends how tall he is. My boys are 12 and 10 and ride 26" hardtails. In morzine they ride a kona stinky 24 and a norco b line 24, both heavily upgraded to make them loose weight and get suspension to actually work.

Both are nice bikes when upgraded, norco comes up bigger so would last you longer.

We are in norwich and travel to ride sometimes if your son wants to try them.

Simone

Go for a full suss if possible, it will be faster and more fun for your lad. My son rode one day of downhill on his hardtail last summer, he hated it as it was much slower and less comfortable than his full suss. That stinky is a decent price and a good starting point.
