Does anyone have problems with the plate on their derailleur rubbing their SRAM chain? (Part 10 in the EV). After a few rides it has actually changed the shape of the side peices of the chain!

You've threaded it round the wrong side of 'part 10'.

Actually, I've just looked at the diagram again, I assumed you are talking about the little tag bit that is 90 degree angled to the rest of the side plate, if that's the case, I stand by my earlier comment!

Yeah shouldn't rub at all on any chain.

It's on the inside of the metal tab (as shown in the really dodgy picture below.) If it was above the tab, surely it would rub even more?

Sorry about the state of my bike, been out today and haven't cleaned it yet!

No it won't. Look, you can see how the chain bends round the tab bit. I'll admit that the way they chamfer the tab really makes it look like it should be running on that side, but trust me. My 'part 10' has little side plate grooves to prove it!

Yep, I've done that before too. Number 26 of the '1000 rookie bike maintenance mistakes' i believe! Happy fixing, you'll be chuffed at how quiet it all is when you've sorted it. 🙂
