Just started building up a 14" Scandal 2nd hand from here, and having trouble with the rear brake.
Was running BB7 on the previous frame (great brakes, now for sale ๐ )but there's no-way they'll fit inside the seat stay-chain stay triangle.
Also, I was hoping to run a 140 disc at the rear.
So, my question is what brakes have anybody successfully run like this. What would you recommend? Cots, weight and power are of course issues too!
Off to work now, all advice welcome,
Alex
I think it says somewhere on the on-one website that BB7s won't fit, neither will XTR BTW if I remember correctly. I am running SLX brakes, XT will fit, too, and most other brakes, it's mainly the two at the top that cause problems. You may also not be in luck with the 140mm rotor, I am running 160mm, as bigger, as easier to fit, but 140mm may be pushing it a bit, but I haven't tried.

The road BB7s fit on my Scandal.
Running older LX brakes at the moment with 160mm rotor which fit fine.
Likely to upgrade to SLX so good to know they fit
All avid juicy 7s fit too . If it helps at all
From experience the old style Hope mono minis don't fit, however Avid Elixir Rs do. It's a tight squeeze with a 160 rotor and a DMR Revolver hub though, only a couple of mm to spare.
Old 160mm Hayes HFX mags didnt fit, but compared to todays brakes they are somewhat big. Older style 160mm Deores (M525) fitted a treat, & looking at my juicy's I reckon they'd fit a treat also.
180 rotor with bb7 MTB caliper, but I had to file the adapter a bit because an edge fouled a weld on the stay. Its a 19.5 29er so bigger angles and more space I guess.
All Hope mono minis work, Hope minis do not (two piece caliper).
Hayes Stroker Ryde with a 160mm rotor just fit.
