I tend to set mine for as short a chain stay as possible if there's tyre room and I'm not running the bike SS.

Shorter chainstays give slightly more maneuverability, slightly less high speed stability. Longer chainstays are opposite, giving slightly more stability at speed, but slightly less maneuverability.
Depends what you ride most, tight and twisty or fast and open.
