Off to Skye this weekend. Other than the Sligachan (done too many times), Quirang (too many walkers), and Cuillin slabs (too bloody scary), does anyone have any recommendations for an old bimbler trail ride?

Is this a specific ride? Would love to know more if it is.

Driving to Torridon is definitely not an option. My Mrs isn't going to stand for that. Ah well. Might have to be Sligachan again.

There's a cliff top circuit that seems to be online as 'Macleod's Maidens,' I remember that being ok. But really, this (taken back in April) is about as close as I want to get to Skye these days:

I have ridden lollipop shape xc routes from Broadford (15m) and from Glenbrittle (18m). Scenic rather than exciting as far as I can Screenshot_20260522-082546.pngScreenshot_20260522-082604.png remember.

Interesting. A few options there. I've never explored down the Broadford area. We normally stay up Skeabost/Carbost way

Search for the "cleared villages" route, which is quite enjoyable. Otherwise raasay and the Burma road is a nice trip.   My memory of (waliking) MacLeods maidens was there was virtually no path on the ground.

Are you talking about the Tables, the rough flat topped summits? They are pretty rough terrain. The coastal path forming the bike route was ok, admittedly a few years back, but you can see it clearly on satnav images. The bothy en route is worth popping in to, if only to get away from the midges.

If that is the round to Idrigal point, it's the best walk with a bike I've ever had. Almost enough to be in Kenny Wilson's Mountain Bike (walks) book.

Personally, I wouldn't...

The cleared villages one looks like the route from Broadford. How is the non double track bit for the 2nd half of the ride?
