Good/cheap hang on bike racks

[#13535638]

I've leased a car as a temporary thing but need a hangon bike rack (no tow bar) - want to carry 3 bikes - my medium full suss and two 24" kids bikes.

(worst case scenario the wheels could come off my bike and it could go in the boot)

I've probably got the car for 6 months so idealy cheap as possible but also good enough so it a) doesn't come off or B) damage car or bikes.

Anyone got any suggestions?

Saris Bones always used to be recommended (a mate is selling one, but it's the two bike model). He rated it, just doesn't want to put it on his fancy new car. Which is fair.

The good news is that it’s the same answer - check FB marketplace as there’s always loads of bike carrier kit

I'd recommend against the Saris Bones if you have anything other than a traditional shaped gatey frame. Completely failed to fit any of our bikes on one, including a normal shaped 20 and 24. The arms are just too chunky and the 'saddles' aren't very accommodating.

+1. A mate had a Saris Bones which we were planning on using to take 3 bikes up to Scotland for a weekend of riding. We spent around an hour trying to safely mount 3 full-sus bikes to it before admitting defeat & taking 2 cars instead.
