I am a complete disaster at anything mechanical so I am ready for the flaming.....however -
My CX bike is skipping gears in the middle of the cassette under load, I know there is something you can do with the barrel adjuster and something called a b screw?
I know I could take it to the bike shop before somebody suggests that but as I've been riding for 35 years I think its time I learnt a few basics...
The bike is pretty much new, only about 4 months old and hasnt had a huge amount of miles put in it so it cant be the chain, cassette etc.
Any advice for a complete amateur much appreciated! ๐Ÿ™‚

It could be wear and tear if you have been doing a lots of mudplugging. More likely it just needs a touch of cable adjustment.

4 months old and all stuff new, sounds like normal cable stretch to me, just needs tightening up a 1/4 turn or so (anti clockwise on the barrel adjuster on rear mech)

As above, turn the barrel adjuster 1/4 turn and then go for a quick ride and adjust again as required.

Keep a note of how many times you've turned it so you can put it back if it all goes horribly wrong!
