I've always used Parcelforce. Their depot is about 6 miles away but you can just walk in, pay your money, and walk away. It's usually a bit under £30.

gwizz couriers - less than £10 with insurance cover the last couple of times I used them. They sub the actual job to UPS, DHL etc

It's parcel force with a different front. It's cheap - 15 quid and they come and collect. Have sent 3 bikes & frames with them, not problems.
