[Closed] Skip/Slip on 1x11S under load, causes?

When i'm out of the saddle my 11s drivertrain is 'skipping'. iveย worked out whats happening; it's shifting up for a tooth or two then dropping it again.

I replaced the chain and now it happens worse on more cogs.

Is this something to be expected from chain wear knackering the cassette?

the chain was over .5 on a park gauge and pretty much .75 from what i could tell?

I don't want to drop money on a new cassette if its likely something else.

I ran the bike as an SS over the winter and i"m pretty sure i re-assembled correctly. shifts are crisp and precise through the whole range. The freehub body did pull off the hope hub though so i jammed it back on. theres no noticeable play anywhere and AFAIK nothing that could have bent the mech hanger.

Any clues appreciated.

Alex

It's it's shifting up and down I'd try and fix that before blaming a worn drivetrain.

I've got a Sram Rival mech and it's easy to route the inner cable incorrectly and this caused some poor shifting and jumping about. It could also be a slightly bent mech hanger.

If you had it converted to singlespeed, is the front ring in the correct position for a good chainline?

Is the freehub on properly? sometimes you don't get it to sit in the seal properly.

I've was wondering about the seal and the freehub.

I'll take a close look at that. probably need to buy the tool to set if properly if this could be a cause.

thanks

I've previously had a 1x10 skip and it was rear hub warning me it was about to blow so I'd look there.

Sounds ominous that it came off in your hand too!

Yep, last two I came across that were doing that had freehub bearings either collapsed, or on the point of collapse, so i'd definitely be checking those out at the same time, as the potential for expensive damage is high.
