Did it 3 weeks ago Ton. Bit rutted & clarty in places but what you can't ride on a tourer you can push I suppose. Quite singletracky but shouldn't be too bad if its been dry.

Lots of people walking anyway & It's not too far either.

Yep but probably a bit more than half way down. The initial track from Skiddaw House was rutted (for a tourer) I think you'll be ok but it's hard to say cos you know what we were riding!

EDIT, looking at the map, at about 314314 it becomes a better track.

Personally, I wouldn't but depends on what the tourer is. It's not straightforward on an MTB, and gets worse when wet. You'll walk about half I reckon - sharp ups and downs, rocks and ruts.

Tony, It's about 3.5K from Skiddaw house to the 'better' track if that helps. If your'e doing what I think your'e doing (tour of Blencathra?) That'll be the faffiest bit of the ride.

Not too bad, couple of spots will have you off and walking on a tourer, I suspect. Bit bumpy, puddly and rutted, but gets a lot faster and flatter further on.
