[#3408393]

I remember seeing a Walking boot conversion job on STW last winter, anyone ever done the same to a set of skate/BMX shoes?

I only ask as I have a knackered old set of etnies which are probably going in the bin as the heel end of the tread is a bit knackered and the uppers are quite worn, but the Mid sole and forward section of tread are in goodish order.

I have a hankering to attack the soles with a stanley knife and a drill and see if I can make them SPDish...

Thoughts/Advice?

I'm guessing they won't be stiff enough along the length of the sole to be worthwhile for using with SPDs, IMO obviously

Well I'm not looking for a set of ultra light/stiff XC disco slippers here but a bit of extra stiffness could help...

Hmmmm, I reckon I could come up with and internal reinforcement of some sort, got some Epoxy Fibreglass and Carbon fabric in the garage doing nowt...

I feel a bit of a project coming on...

you should go into business with Cynic al.
if you're size 43 in shoes I'll give you an almost new pair of shimano skate/BMX style shoes for free.
