I had a difficult day at Coed y Brenin today - 6 pinch punctures!
No 1 was on a rocky section, fair enough
No 2 was because the rear was a bit soft due to pump issues, fair enough
Nos 3 and 4 were front and rear together on smoothish singletrack, totally not fair
Nos 5 and 6 ditto

Have never had a pinch puncture in 18 months on this bike before today
Pressures were high for all but no 2
Front tyre has been on for a year - Kenda Nevergal
Rear tyre was new - Maxxis Exception Crossmark - lightweight but not exactly tissue-paper thin
Tubes were cheap but Specialized branded

Is there some obvious issue here or was it just one of those days?

mismounted your tyres, trapping your inners, when you fixed 1, 2, 3 and 4

or in a previous life you drowned kitty cats

Pinch punctures are caused by tyre pressures being too low.

Narrow tyres and rocks?

But, tubeless or 2-ply tyres will solve it.

Only tyres I've pinch punctured in years are Crossmark eXCeption 2.1's.

Do you use a pressure gauge?
Is it broken? ๐Ÿ™‚

Poor riding today exacerbated by the first couple of punctures?

Dinged rim as a resilt of the first puncture leaving a rough section that ate the other tubes?

It's because you touch yourself at night.

I've pinch punctured a tubeless tyre! I was riding with the grace of a brick at the time...

Thanks, some good ideas. I'll check out the rims tomorrow. Don't think I mismounted the tyres.

Don't think it was clumsy riding, I was riding like a god today by my standards, albeit a bit faster than usual as it was a race.

My wife says she'll divorce me if I lose any more weight, so it's not a pie issue!!

I really don't want it to happen again, thinking tubeless...

For the record, and embarrassing to admit, it has turned out to be due to my mental pressure gauge needing some serious recalibration ๐Ÿ™‚
