Hey guys, off to Afan in a couple of weeks. I've been advised to take some spare brake pads, although i've never needed any before i thought i'd best take some spares as were traveling a long way.
Firstly, is it advisable to take spare pads, do they wear quick on trails such as Afan? Mainly wanting to know what pads should i buy? Standard hope or sintered? I'm quite happy with the standard pads but unsure what difference sintered will make?

I always carry spare pads just in case, don't know why everybody wears theirs out at Afan though. Last year did three rides around The Wall over a 2 week period in absolutely foul conditions on a set i'd been using for the last 3 months and still got another 2 months use from them.
If the weather's looking grim, i'd probably go for a set of sintereds just for the extra bite in the wet.
Take sintered. They seem to last forever! Afan area can be very hard on brakes if its wet.
As long as pads are bedded in properly, you should be alright.
Having tired SSC pads (not going there again) i now bulk buy hope sintered for my my Mini Mono's. Can't remember when i changed to the current set. September i think!
